SUMMARY

This article will guide a user through the process of running the Microsoft Dynamics SL Intelligent Cloud migration process after the Microsoft Dynamics SL Intelligent Cloud and History Smartlists extensions have been installed and database backups have been restored to a supported version of SQL Server.


DETAILS


Note: For migration purposes in using the Microsoft Dynamics SL Intelligent Cloud application, the databases connected for data migration should always be in the form of a backup.

 

  1. Make sure user migration rights and permission sets for Intelligent Cloud are added for user.
  2. Under Setup & Extension, select Assisted Setup.
  3. Scroll down under Get ready for business and select Setup Cloud Migration.
  4. The migration tool will launch. Accept the privacy flag to enable the Next button

  5. Dynamics SL should now show in the tool for you.

  6. Click OK, and then Next
  7. This will show the connection page for you to configure. This is where you will enter the SQL Server connection information including the userID and password.

As an example:
Server=WIN-2016SQLServer\SQL2017;Database=SLSYSTEM;User Id=sa;Password=xxxxxxxxx



 

  1. I you leave the Integration Runtime Name blank, it should install the tool directly to the SQL server and generate the runtime code.
  2. You will move forward to setting up the runtime connection. Select the Download the Self Hosted Integration Runtime directly from the SQL server to minimize my access to a sites systems, but also to allow the Runtime install to run directly on the SQL server without moving between servers. It is your choice how you prefer to install and set this up.

  1. Once you select the Download option, it will open the Microsoft download site to install Azure Data Factory Integration Runtime. Download and install the runtime. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39717)
    *** You might have to install .NET 4.7.2 before the Integration Runtime will install
  2. Once downloaded, install. You will need the Authentication Key from the BC IC Data Migration Setup window (that should still be open)

  3. Now the Configuration Manager can be launched

  4. You should now see the Manager

  5. With everything connected, you can move back to the BC page and to connect the BC company and walk through the BC side setup.
  6. You should be able to now see your companies available:

Select your company to upload.


*** Note: Be sure to up your SQL SL databases to compatibility level 130 or higher.
*** Note: You might also need to adjust the Windows Firewall on the SQL server to allow the integration to connect
