The “Balance” that you see on the bank account reconciliation is the following formula:

Balance = "Balance Last Statement" - "Statement Amount"

In other words, it’s the sum of the changes between the two statements (the one prior, and sum of the bank statement lines)

Per the screenshot below:


The Balance of -332,565.93 is equal to the Balance of the Last Statement (-332,216.47 + -349.46).

It seems that the field “Total Balance” is actually the exact same logic behind it, so the two should always equal each other.

The “Total Difference” field is the sum of the statement line’s “Difference” column, as shown below:
