How to  Expose Existing Web Service

What is Web Service:
XML-based collections of OSP (Open-Source Protocols) and standards used to exchange data between two applications over a network. It’s a quick way to make application data available to any external system and user; Business Central exposes many objects as web services by default and allows you to create your own.  The purpose of this document is to show you how to expose an existing object.

Types of Web Service Available in Dynamics Business Central:

Step 1: Create a ‘Web Services’ user in O365 and D365 BC

Step 2: Generate a Web Services Key for the ‘Web Services’ user

  • Go to your user setup in Business Central and look for your username and Web Service Key.

  • Please note: if you don’t see Web Service Access Key, generate one. (Actions>Authentication)

Step 3: How to find Web Services in Business Central:

  • Use Tell me and search for Web Services.

  • Select Web Service; you will see all pre-published web services.

  • Click the Web Service URL and link you wish to expose, and you will get the window to enter your username and password.

  • Enter the ‘Web Services’ User name and Web Services Key
