Best practice to setup a No. Series for each batch.   The reason you need a No. Series for each batch is to ensure when two people start to use two different batches the Document No.s are different.  If batches share the same No. Series the Document No.s assigned will be in both batches shown below.  Notice both batches use No. Series GJNL-Gen.  Then in the batches the Document No. is the same.

Set up No. Series

Search for No. Series.

Click New.

Enter Name of No. Series in Code field, Description.

Click Related, Series, Lines

You can enter in a Start Date if you want to start using a new No. Series at that time or leave it blank to use all the time.

Assign the new No. Series to the Batch.

Search for General Template Journals.

Click on the template in our example it is General.

Click Related.

Click Template and Batches.

Select the No. Series

When you create a General Journal for Batch Test it will use the TestGenJnl No. Series.
